ELEVEN DEVILS FC CROWNED CHAMPIONS

 

 


Eleven Devils Football club crowned champions of Getrude Nankhumwa trophy after edging out Max United by 10- 9 on post-match penalties on Sunday at Mbayani Primary Ground.

After the match ended 1-1 in normal time, before the referee send the game into post match penalties to decide the winner.

Goalkeeper for Eleven Devils, Wilson was the hero for the day as he a save a penalty from Max United player.

Captain for Devils, Patrick Madinga was excited that his team has won the trophy.

“This is our first time that we have won something big like this and am very excited, as for the whole team we have dedicated this trophy to our sponsor Francisco Madinga,” Said Madinga.

Meanwhile, The Sponsor Getrude Nakhumwa, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area promised to launch Blantyre Kabula League in which all teams from all four zones will participant.

“I will introduce a league in which I want to see players from my constituency playing their soccer abroad, but before this I will also introduce trophy for primary schools in all four zones, said Nankhumwa.

She further continued to say that she wants to see more players from the constituency playing their professional football outside the country.

“I want to see more Madinga’s coming out from this area”.

This is the first time that Eleven Devils have won the competition since its inception four years ago, but for Max United it was their third time in a row despite the loss and managed to won it for two consecutive seasons.

On their way to success, Devils overcome Ghetto Fc 5-3 in quarter finals before sending out Che Mussa Ajax Fc by 3-2 in semi-finals before lifting the trophy.

Eleven Devils Fc started playing their professional football in 2018 and their sponsorship comes from Malawi’s Professional Footballer, Francisco Madinga who plays his football in Georgia.

Getrude Nankhumwa trophy was played in four zones namely; Mbayani, Maera, Machinjiri and Chirimba.The trophy in total was worthy amount of 8 million which was shared in both zones.

From Mbayani Zone the winner walk away with MK 450,000, MK350, 000 for second team, third place team received MK 250,000 and fourth placed side pocket MK200, 000.
