Bullets beat Karonga United to unofficially defend the TNM Super Legue
FCB Nyasa Bullets has unofficially defended the 2023
TNM Super League following a 1- 0 win against Karonga united on Wednesday at
Karonga stadium.
The peoples team started the match on a high note as
they created three quick chances inside the opening five minutes, but Karonga
United goalie denied them.
Patrick Mwaungulu broke the dread rock on the 7th
minutes of the Match after receiving an excellent cross from Ephraim Kondowe.
Despite conceding an early goal Karonga United settled
well in match and created a number golden scoring opportunities through Ellie
Kayombe, Pilirani Thulu, and Youngson, but couldn’t break the peoples team
defense.
Karonga United almost leveled when Thulu delivered a
brilliant ball into the box from a freekick, which was headed over the crossbar
by Kayombo.
In the second half the hosts pressed for the
equalizing goal, but Bullets defense was very solid and protected their lead to
take all the maximum points at Karonga Stadium.
Minutes before the final whistle referee stopped the
match after the hosts supporters began pelting stones on the pitch in the last
additional five minutes.
The Media failed to conduct post-match interviews due
to volatile situation at Karonga United.
The win means that Silver will need to score at least
eight goals to clinch the championship on Sunday as they will play against Bullets.
The People's team have now 59 points from 29 games,
while Silver Strikers have 56 points from 29 games and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers
have 55 points from 29 games.
