Chakwera congratulates Temwa Chawinga for scooping IFFHS award
President Lazarus Chakwera has hailed the performance of Malawi Women’s forward, Temwa Chawinga after being named as the as the women's world best goal scorer by the International Federation of Football History and Statistic (IFFHS).
According to the statement issued by the office of the
president, Chakwera has praised Chawinga’s achievements in the just ended 2023
season.
“The first Lady and I, pass our warmest
congratulations to Temwa Chawinga, Malawi’s pride, for an extraordinary
achievement as the 2023 women’s world best goalscorer”, said Chakwera
Chakwera added that Temwa’s historic accomplishment is
a testament to her hard work, dedication, and talent.
“Temwa’s phenomenal 63 goals show her exceptional
talent and dedication as the first non-European female footballer to achieve
this feet, Chawinga’s prowess with 51 goals for Wuhan Jiangda, her Multiple awards
in China, and her national team contribution in South Africa’s Cosafa tournament
are truly inspiring, her remarkable accomplishment are a testament to her skill
and hard work”, Chakwera Said.
The Malawian International has been named as the women’s
world best goal scorer beating other notable names in women’s football like Sam
Kerr, Kiana Palacios, Alexia Putellas, Beth Mead and Ashley Lawrence.
Chawinga also won the Cosafa Women's Championship
golden boot with nine goals after helping the Scorchers to win their first ever
COSAFA Women's Championship in South Africa
