FAM Verdict Favours Bullets reserve

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) through its Disciplinary Committee has directed Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) to award FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve a 2-0 win in the Second leg of their quarter finals match after Zingwangwa United have been found guilty of fielding suspended players.

According to a statement signed by Fam, General secretary, Alfred Gunda, the Committee has found that Zingwangwa Used illegible players in the match and that SRFA has no evidence that the players were cleared.

“Article 22.7 of the SRFA Rules and regulations states that a team that fields an unqualified or suspended players will automatically lose the match by a margin of two goals irrespective of the actual match results,” reads part of the statement.

However, FAM has given Zingwangwa 48 hours to appeal if they are not satisfied with the verdict.

Earlier last week SRFA through its Chairperson Raphael Humba, brushed off bullets appeal saying that Zingwangwa United did not field suspended players during the match.

This means that if Zingwangwa United will not appeal, the junior people’s team will play against Friends of Mulanje (FOMO) in the semifinals of Thumbs Up SRFA League.
