RED LIONS HANDS EKHAYA UNITED FIRST DEFEAT IN THE SRFA TOP 8

Ekhaya United have suffered their first defeat in the Southern Region Thumbsup Premier Division league top 8 at the hands of Red Lions who beat the league leaders 2-nil at Mpira Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Amoni Kapalamula’s brace was enough for the Zomba based soldiers to collect all the three points.

This was the first time for the Cow boys to register a defeat in the top 8 league after playing four games without a loss.

Speaking after the Match Red Lions Gaffer, Malumbo Mkandawile said the game was tough but his players followed the game plan which merged them to collect all the maximum points.

“It was a tough match as Ekhaya is a good side but I must thank my players as they followed the game plan very well which made us collect all the three points,” Said Mkandawile.

Meanwhile Ekhaya United Mentor, Moses Chavula said it was a painful defeat as his team played well the whole match but they failed to utilize their chances.

“It is very disappointing for a team to dominate the game but fail to collect the points, you can see today well played well but we failed to capitalize our chances and you cannot do that against a side which has played for a long time in the super league but it is still a marathon as they are a lot of games to be played and will we take each game as it comes,” said Chavula.

The defeat means Ekhaya are still topping the standings with 10 points from four games played.

However, the Reds have moved on third position after accumulating 9 points from four games and are yet to taste a defeat.

Elsewhere, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets thrashed their city rivals, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Reserves 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.
