Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos Fined MK4.5 Million for Fan Misconduct
Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos has been fined MK4.5 million by the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) following ugly scenes involving its supporters during their April 13 TNM Super League match against Mzuzu City Hammers at Dedza Stadium.
According to a statement from SULOM, the Disciplinary Committee found the club guilty of failing to control its supporters and for bringing the league into disrepute.
The fine covers two charges and must be paid before Dedza's next official match. Failure to do so will result in the team forfeiting that fixture.
SULOM has also issued a stern warning to Dedza Dynamos, citing the club’s previous record of misconduct. The Committee has made it clear that any further incidents could lead to harsher penalties, such as point deductions or a suspension of Dedza Stadium as a home venue.
The ruling follows a detailed review of various reports, including video footage, match official accounts, medical referrals, formal complaints, and responses from the club. Dedza Dynamos was also summoned to appear before the Disciplinary Committee.
SULOM says it remains committed to upholding discipline, safety, and professionalism in the league, urging all clubs to maintain the integrity of the game.
