FAM speaks out after allegations of mismanaging donations
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has trashed reports making rounds on social media accusing the association of mismanaging donations saying the recently disclosed document from the FIFA Central Review is fake.
According to the press release from FAM, there are no audit discrepancies related to their FIFA Forward Programs.
“We are pleased to clarify that FAM does not have any audit queries regarding FIFA Forward 3.0 programs. FAM in compliance to corporate governance conducts Statutory Audits annually. The audit reports following approval by the General Assembly are published and shared with all the stakeholders,” reads part of the statement.
Meanwhile FAM has assured all football stakeholders that it remains resolute in compliance to its governance processes and regulations and will continue to exercise transparency and accountability.
The contested document, titled "2022 Central Review Action Plan," accuses FAM of misappropriating Football Development Funds, inadequately donating footballs to schools, and issuing passports to 17 participants instead of the agreed-upon 20 for the Africa Schools Tournament.
