Scorchers Trio Makes CAF awards nominees Shortlist

 

The national women's football team, Scorchers duo Tabitha, Temwa Chawinga and coach Lovemore Fazili, have been nominated for the 2023 CAF Awards.

The Scorchers have been nominated as the National Team of the year (Women) while the Chawinga sister, Temwa and Tabitha, have been nominated for player of the year (Women).

Meanwhile Fazili has been nominated as Coach of the year (Women), following the Scorchers extraordinary performance at the 2023 Cosafa Women's Championship where they won Gold.

Tabitha, was the top scorer in Serie A Feminine last season with 23 goals while on loan at Inter Milan from Chinese side Wuhan Jianghan

Temwa, helped Scorchers to win their first ever COSAFA Women's Championship in South Africa and has won two golden boots awards in China with Wuhan Jiangda.

Other teams that have been nominated for the award of the team of the year are Zambia, Senegal, Burundi, South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania and Burkina Faso.

The award ceremony will be held on 11 December 2023 in Marrakech, Morocco.
