Wanderers still slapped with K24 Million fine

 

Football Association of Malawi (FAM), through its Competitions Committee, has ordered Mighty Mukuru wanderers to pay K 24million, following abandonment of Airtel top 8 match between the team and Silver on 23 September 2023.

The Nomads legal team, led by former Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale, and also comprising of private practice lawyer David Kanyenda and the club’s legal adviser, Chancy Gondwe, made the appeal, following the determination that FAM made on 28 September 2023.

Wanderers were initially found guilty of three offenses, including causing abandonment of a match, failure to control their supporters, and bringing the game of football into disrepute.

According to the committee wanderers is now facing financial penalties of K22.5 million for failing to control supporters and K2 million Kwacha for bringing the game of football into disrepute.

Football Association of Malawi has also ordered the rari ruban outfit to pay all the monetary fines within seven days from the date of the determination

The Committee has ruled that Silver Strikers are 2-0 winners as Wanderers have been found guilty of causing abandonment of the game which is against the rules and regulations of the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

The second leg is set to take place on 25 November 2023 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
