Bullets, Silver, Seal Castel Cup Semifinal Place

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers have progressed to the Semifinals of the Castel Challenge Cup after winning their quarter final matches.

The People's team beat Ekwendeni Hammers 4-0 at Kamuzu Stadium, after Hassan Kajoke scored a brace and Patrick Mwaungulu, Precious Sambani scored a goal each for Maule to seal through to the semis of the Castel Cup.

Speaking in a post-match interview, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets gaffer Kalisto Pasuwa, praised his Players for their good performance  but lamented about the continued list of injuries haunting his charges.

"The boys played very well today starting with aggressiveness and the offensive part but I'm just worried with how our players are not protected. We have lost almost 10 players now. Even a card is not given to these players who are treating our players badly. We are not saying we need favours but we need these players protected,” said Pasuwa.

Meanwhile Silver Strikers came from behind to beat Blue Eagles 4-2 at the Bingu Stadium to advance in the Castel Cup.

Eagles opened the six-goal thriller through Blessings Malemia but Patrick Macheso and Emmanuel Kaunga completed a comeback and MacDonald Lameck levelled for Eagles before Innocent Shema and Macheso scoring in the second half to seal the win.

Head coach for the Central Bankers, Pieter de Jongh said he was happy that his side qualified to the next phase.

"I'm very happy reaching the Semifinals of the Castel Challenge Cup and that’s very important. In cup games all you need is a win and we got a win today. It’s a good win actually", said De Jongh.

In the semifinals Silver will play against Bangwe All Stars while Bullets will face Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the much-anticipated Blantyre.
